Enjoy a 13 week assignment in the great Phoenix area at one the hospitals in the most respected health system in the area. CVICU-Cardio Vascular Intensive care Unit This is a 26-bed Cardiovascular-Surgical ICU on two adjacent unit (14 beds and 12 beds) that provides care for the immediate post-operative open heart patient, post-operative general and vascular surgery patients (carotid endarterectomies, abdominal aortic aneurysms, perforated bowel, etc.). The staffing in this area is 2-1 or 1-1 based on patient acuity. The open heart patient is staffed 1-1 in the immediate recovery phase and up to 16-24 hours post op based on patient condition. Intraortic balloon pumps are used intermittently to support the cardiac patient and are staffed 1-1 at this time. The unit is supported by Patient Care Assistants and Unit Secretaries.
