The MICU-CCU is a 32-bed combination unit providing intensive care to those patients with a variety of needs. This unit cares for patients that have issues related to pulmonary, cardiac, sepsis, and multi-system failure. Also receives cardiothoracic surgery and neuro overflow. MICU-CCU can receive the following cardiothoracic (pericardial window, thoracotomy, and pleurodesis). 3N does not receive post CABG or neuro drains.
MICU-CCU requires nurses with exceptional critical thinking skills and a desire to keep up with current evidence base practice. Annual critical care competencies, critical care skills and age specific competencies are completed by staff. Nurses should be proficient in the care of patients with IABP, Swan Ganze, Ventilators, and multiple titrated IV medications.
