2012 Sponsorship of Planet Water
In 2012, Medical Solutions partnered with Planet Water Foundation to help bring fresh, clean water to the men, women, and children who live in the tiny village of Phnov, located in the Tasom Commune, Angkor Chum District of Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Phnov is a village located in the Tasom Commune, Angkor Chum District of Siem Reap, Cambodia. The village has 250 households and a population of 1545. Most of the population work in the rice fields and there is no water supply or electricity in the village.
The village has one primary school called Prasat Thnung that is currently benefiting 590 families. The school has two buildings, 6 class rooms with 539 students including a kindergarten school with 25 kids and a teacher. There is no electricity or clean water in the schools. Children drink water directly from the nearby hand pump well which is contaminated, resulting in severe cases of worms, diarrhea, hepatitis A & E, leptospirosis, schistosomiasis and typhoid fever.
Planet Water's team and local deployment partner PLAN Cambodia, installed AquaTowers in Daun Sva and Prasat Thnung Primary Schools. Before these installations, students had no access to clean drinking water at school, with only access to water from a contaminated pond or well nearby.
According to Planet Water, Medical Solutions' donation of two towers — one on behalf of its company, and the other on behalf of its Travel Nurses — brought clean, safe water to more than 1,200 students and 2,000-plus people in the area!
Planet Water's team visits regularly, conducting ongoing sustainability checks to ensure that the AquaTowers are functioning well and continuing to provide clean, safe water to the Daun Sva and Prasat Thnung Primary Schools.
