RN to BSN Program Testimonial

Melissa E., Travel RN

"I have been working with Medical Solutions since October of 2008. I came to Medical Solutions because my recruiter came here from another company. I became a traveler to get away from the Canadian winters. In all honesty I used to only travel in the winters and return home and work agency in the summers. It was my decision to participate in your RN to BSN program that changed that.

I was attracted to your program because I could start it right away, I didn't have to work for a certain amount of time before I was eligible for the program and I don't have to stay for a certain amount of time after I finish. As opposed to programs offered for perm staff nurses at most hospitals I don't have to put up any money up front. There is a slight deduction in the amount I make each week but it is negligible compared to the amount the company pays. I like that I don't have to worry about tuition or money for books; everything gets billed to and handled by Medical Solutions. The fact that the whole program can be completed on line was also very attractive.

I love being a travel nurse, I really enjoy the fact that I get to meet new people and travel to new places every 13 weeks, I want to become a NP though and there is no other BSN program that I would be able to afford or participate in at this time."

Why did you start the RN to BSN program?

I would like to eventually become a nurse educator and eventually a NP.

How many classes have you taken?

Just finished my 5th course.

How has the online school experience been?

Very good once I got the hang of it. It is a lot more structured than I thought. That works for me though because it keeps me working at the course. The people at the university have all been very helpful, and the teachers are all very receptive.

What suggestions would you have to other nurses considering the program?

Go for it, there is no other way to get your BSN and have your company foot most of the bill. Perm jobs require you to work there at least 6 months before you can get tuition reimbursement and then usually only reimburse a few thousand a year. This program works out to almost $8000 a year and MS pays most of that!

How did you hear about the RN to BSN program?

From my recruiter (Jeremiah at the time), and then I got a handout and saw it on the web site.
