Stability In Travel Nursing
Even though Travel Nursing jobs are on a temporary basis, there is no shortage of opportunity.
The reason is simple. The ongoing nurse shortage allows Travel Nurses to go where they are needed most. While nursing itself is a stable career choice, you can take extra steps to ensure your career as a Travel Nurse is a stable one:
The best things YOU can do to keep your Travel Nursing Career stable:
- Maintain your reputation: Follow through on your promise. You signed the contract and now you must prove yourself and become a dependable part of the team.
- Decide to work with a few companies or just one: Working with a few companies will give you more choices in the job market. However, you may lose out on the personal attention that you get from working with just one company. If variety is important to you, go with a few companies. If personal attention and relationship with your recruiter is important, stick with one.
- Have a sought after specialty: Research which specialties are in high demand and which have the most available positions. Labor and delivery, ER and OR are always high in demand, while Psych and LPN positions may be somewhat limited.
- Be flexible: Even though there are a lot of jobs available, it is possible that you may not always get that dream assignment. The more open you are to different opportunities, the more secure you'll be in maintaining a career as a Travel Nurse.
