Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Information

The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) lets nurses licensed in compact states practice in other participating compact states without having to obtain additional licenses. This system increases job opportunities for travel nurses and crucial access to care for patients.

In July 2017, the NLC enacted several changes to its roster of states, which were officially implemented in January 2018. In the wake of those changes and as participating states continue to shift since, it’s very important to stay up to date on which states are compact, not compact, pending legislation, or awaiting implementation.

Medical Solutions created the map above to help you stay updated on all things NLC. You can also refer to this map or these FAQs from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) for current info on the NLC.

Please contact your recruiter or the Medical Solutions Clinical Team with any questions about the NLC!
